Mini: What did I do?
This week’s episode is a continuation of last week’s episode where it takes your vision for your perfect year and looks at the steps you took to achieve it. If you haven’t listened to the previous episode and attempted the journaling exercise in it, please listen to it first! Ideally, give yourself 30 minutes to do this week’s challenge and have on hand a notebook and pen!

Hello and welcome to this weekly mini-episode of the Curious Coach podcast. Last week’s challenge was all about looking forward one year from now and imagining that you had a fantastic year, where you achieved everything you wanted to achieve. After you imagined this future, the challenge was to journal for 20 minutes and write down everything – as if it had already happened. If you haven’t had a chance to do this yet, I’d suggest you pause this episode and go back and listen to Episode 59 which contains all the instructions.
Now, once you have twenty minutes of journaling complete. Open it up and read it back to yourself. As you read it, allow yourself to be absorbed into that future state you created. Ground yourself through your breath and really allow yourself to bring that movie to life. Become aware of the images, sounds, feelings and so on.
So now that you’re back in that vision. Start to ask yourself this one question: What did I do to make it happen?
What did I do to make this vision of myself in December, one year from now, happen?
Grab a pen and start writing for another 20 minutes. Like before, don’t stop, just let a stream of words fall out of you and onto the page. You might want to start with a list of all the things you did to get here and then expand on each one; or maybe you simply start writing about each one in turn as they popped into you head. Bring each one to life with as much detail and specifics as you can. Who helped you? What were the steps you had to go through? Was there a particular order? What barriers did you overcome? How did you break them down?
If you find yourself still writing after 20 minutes, that’s ok – keep going until you feel you’ve reach you’ve run out of steam.
When you’re done, take a break for a while and then come back to what you’ve written. Read it through; What do you start to notice? Coming back to the here and now, what is this telling you about what you need to do to move forward? To be successful in achieving everything you want to do over the coming year?
As you reflect, keep those two journal entries handy. Over the course of the coming year, dig them out every month and reread them to remind yourself of your own wisdom and insights you’ve envisaged for next year.
I hope you enjoy reflecting on what you need to do to achieve your perfect year and as always I’d love to hear how you got on and any thoughts that came up for you.
