The Benefits of Coaching

The Benefits of Coaching

Stephen Clements

Are you a high potential performer looking to jump up to the next rung on the ladder?  Do you have a dream that you are looking for a way to turn it into reality?  Perhaps you've just got a promotion in work and now find yourself slightly out of your depth?  Maybe you're venturing out on your own and finding yourself going around in circles?  Searching for something that will be more fulfilling?  Struggling with confidence or self-believe?  As a coach, I work with ambitious professionals who are feeling stuck, frustrated or confused with figuring out how turn their dreams into reality and who want to find those next steps so they can create a better life for themselves and their family.  Each of us can benefit from coaching in different ways because in reality we are all different.  We are all driven by different beliefs and values.  And we are all looking for something in life that will be specific to us and our circumstances.  What works for one person may not work for another.  However, coaching, and in particular a person-centred approach to coaching, can help a client understand themselves better;  generating greater self-awareness enabling a client to move forward by connecting their heart with their mind.

For some, it’s about getting a different perspective on a desire, dream or ambition and how to achieve it; for others it could be a willingness to adopt or change behaviours, or gain more confidence, or greater presence. Others might be overwhelmed by too many choices or approaches and need a thinking partner to help find the path that’s right for them.

Gone are the days where organisation tried to use coaching to ‚Äėfix‚Äô problem employees. ¬†Instead, many are now providing coaching for their high potential employees ¬†as a way of accelerating their growth and development. ¬†In many areas of business, ambitious employees can find themselves promoted into a management role only to find that they need to quickly learn new skills in order to continue to succeed ‚Äď and again, coaching can help these employees to quickly find their feet again.

At the end of the day, you are the expert on yourself.  A coach isn’t there to tell you what to do, or how to it, or to judge what you do.  A coach is your co-pilot.  Someone who is with you.  Giving you their undivided attention.  Listening. Reflecting back what they’re hearing and seeing. And asking powerful questions. A coach will empower you, the client, to really understand where your destination is, how to get there and why this is so important for you.
